Namdaemun Market

After I returned from ice skating the girls were anxious to show me one of their favorite shopping markets, Namdaemun. It is a crowded mainly outdoor market with all sorts of things to buy. The guide book says if you can’t find it here, it probably doesn’t exist. We took a taxi to Gate 6. We knew we’d take a taxi back because of all of our purchases . Our first purchase was fruit on a stick for a snack. There was watermelon, honeydew, and pineapple. It was a nice refreshing way to begin shopping.
The first thing I looked at were some bags. I probably should have bought one but I passed. Norah, another professor, needed to find slippers and pajamas. Along the way I bought a few things and we did find the slippers and pjs. I was going to buy a headband but was ushered out of the store because they were closing at some strange hour. That was their loss! I really enjoyed the food vendors
but I did not get any since I was not with adventurous eaters. The girls got Hota, the sweet pancake and King’s snack the honey but I had had both of those and wasn’t really hungry. Jen was looking for this rose purse/cell phone case but the man was so rude he lost business too. All in all it was a super successful trip. I am hoping I can fit everything into my suitcase. On our walk back since our taxi driver couldn't exactly find our hotel we went by the temple. There was a special event going on so I took a picture. You can see women in traditional dress.
