Today was my first solo adventure. Since many Korean students go to my school I wanted to get together with them if possible. The Lee family made arrangements for me to meet them at an indoor amusement park, Lotte World. My first step was to find them. After a few emails I decided to meet them in their neighborhood. I had to ride the subway 10 stops and exit at number 2. I got there early so I just sat and took in the sights where I also saw a rat. Gross! Andy arrived to get me and I hardly recognized him. Both him and his sister wear contacts so their signature lack of glasses through me off. We had a half hour drive in a city that has some crazy driving. We arrived at Lotte World
and parked underground. It was interesting to arrive somewhere via car. Then we went to the ice skating but it wasn’t open yet so to the arcade we went. We played air hockey.
Jenny and I beat Andy! The kids played Mario Cart while their mom and I watched. By that point the rink had opened and we rented skates and a skating we went.
It was strange to skate in shorts and a t-shirt. They brought be gloves. We went around and around at a slow pace.
I was pretty decent compared to the kids. I guess growing up in Michigan helped. I enjoyed watching the kids get speed skating lesson and figure skating lessons in the middle of the rink. After a half hour we stopped for a Gatorade break and then skated for another half hour before stopping due to hurting ankles and feet. They took me to lunch at Pizza Hut where I tried out a Korean salad bar. They have all these mashed potato looking things in various colors. They turned out to be a potato salad, a pumpkin salad, and a seafood salad. All were very good. Mrs. Lee drove me home where I gave them a small gift and they also gave me a gift. They gave me a Korean snack pack. We’ll see if I have room for 4 bags of chips or if I have to eat them before I come home.
